Bowman Lake & Polebridge
Bowman Lake is in the northwestern portion of Glacier National Park in Montana. It is not commonly visited by most visitors to Glacier National Park, because it is located in one of the more remote areas of the park. It is more well-known among local residents, though, who use the small, uncrowded campground. The tiny community of Polebridge is a 27-mile drive from West Glacier on a primarily dirt road, and it`s less than a mile from the northwest entrance to Glacier National Park-from which you can access Bowman and Kintla Lakes. The town consists of a handful of houses, cabins, a hostel and small ranches along the North Fork Road, with the Polebridge Mercantile as its hub. This one-stop shop for locals and visitors is known the world over for its fresh baked goods, sandwiches and authentic personality. |
